5 Minutes with ex dancer, music guru and barre babe Holly GB

Where are you from?

New Zealand (no judgement please)

Where is your favorite place in Sydney to hang out?

Sunsets on observatory hill, or at the golf course (sorry if it's trespassing), any of our beautiful Sydney beaches for sunrise.

What is your favorite place to eat?

Lentil as anything, beautiful hearty vegan food where you can give back to the community and provides opportunities for people in need. The busy relaxed vibe and their ethos is just beautiful to!

hat is your typical day on a plate?

Avo smashed on natural toasted bread with lemon and salt and pepper and spinach and cherry tomatoes. I would literally purely survive on that for the rest of my life if I could!

What do you love the most about working at The Barre Studio?

Ummm duh the clients who I would like to call friends :) Seeing the improvements, hearing how much they enjoy themselves, and feeling that awesome energy and focus when I challenge them... God I love my job!

Oh and Donna 😍 such a dream #bosslady I really look up to her! All of the team are so lovely ( and fun to get on the champers with when we do the Xmas parties #barreteachersgonewild)

What's on your bucket list?

I've ticked most of it off already, no time like the present. If I want to do something or have an experience, I go out and make it happen rather than waiting for it to happen to me!

App you use most?

Selfie cam. Kidding! I'm the worst selfie taker there ever ever was. It's become a running joke among friends actually.

Really though, it would have to be soundcloud, I love music so much and get bored easily, so can constantly find new tracks and mixes on there!

Song that always puts you in a good mood?

The sunscreen song from Romeo and Juliet by Baz Lurman makes me smile  every single time. It gets me really excited about life!

And what are you listening to at the moment?

I'm loving the new rufus and odeza mix! All of the new rufus stuff is great actually.

For beach time I'm listening to mixtapes that are filled with Maribou state.

I'm loving malaa, Cassius and low steppa for house at the moment.

And I'm still not over Justin beiber- sorry. (And I'm not even sorry) best tune to turn up loud and sing to.

First barre class?

First ballet class was actually when I was three, my parents didn't want me to go to dancing lessons but I would never stop dancing as soon as I could walk, so they took me in hopes I would be able to stand still occasionally in public. Apparently I loved it so much I ignored the teacher, danced around the room with my eyes closed so vigourosly that I took another toddler out... Then was banned from coming back to that studio. Whoops...

Favourite meal post-Barre?

A glass of red.

Your idea of true happiness is….

Good friends and family, the beach, being active and a good soundtrack to it all. (Ew so cliché but it's true, it's the small things)

What makes you laugh?

My friends! God they are hilarious!

What makes you cry?

The doco earthlings... I still can't make it past 20 minutes. Also bloody Disney movies. Every. Single. Damn. Time.

ant live without?

Barre obviously. Lol just kidding (I'm not actually) but also good music and sunshine.

 Best advice you've ever received?

I learnt some pretty great life lessons at burning man last year, but they can't really be explained they have to be experienced. I recommend it to everyone!

Favourite barre move

Booty hips in plies obviously. And as anyone who comes to my class knows, anytime we get to let the bands ping back. There's just something so satisfying about letting them fly back.

omething people dont know about you?

You know captain morgan as in the rum? I'm a decendant. That's right, I like to imagine it as jack sparrow being my great grandad or something though.

an I follow you on insta?

Sure can! You can check out some of my pics from my recent travels and (bad) selfies! @lifeofhollyg
